New Hope celebrates after receiving £17,990 from the
Severn Trent Community Fund to support the work of the charity
New Hope Counselling is celebrating after being awarded almost £18k in funding from the Severn Trent Community Fund Core Funding to support its work offering low-cost counselling to those in South Warwickshire. The charity, based in Warwick, will use the cash to support running costs/staff costs, enabling the service to run smoothly and efficiently.
New Hope has been running since 2011 and is staffed by 3 part-time management staff, supported by 2 location coordinators. It has grown from a single day service to operating 5 days a week, delivering counselling in 3 locations across South Warwickshire – in Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Kenilworth.
The charity now has a team of around 45 volunteer counsellors, many of whom have come to us for their placements as trainee counsellors and have stayed with us post-qualification.
The new funding from the Severn Trent Community Fund: Core funding, which awards grant money to maintain three elements of community wellbeing - people, places and environment - means New Hope has support to run for the next 12 months.
James Slough, Assistant Manager for New Hope says: “We’re delighted that the Severn Trent Community Fund Core Funding has recognised our work in this way. We’re thankful for the funding so that we’ll be able to continue providing our low-cost service to those in South Warwickshire. This is important because it means that those who are unable to afford the cost of private therapy can still access counselling and address the issues that are affecting their mental health.”
